The Microbial Oceanography Laboratory (LOMIC) was created on January 1  2010. This mixed UMPC-CNRS research unit is linked to The Institut National des Sciences de l'UniversNouvelle fenêtre , bus has also strong thematic linkages to  The Institut d'Ecologie et de l'Environnement Nouvelle fenêtreand The Institut des Sciences BiologiquesNouvelle fenêtre.  LOMIC assembles expertises in the fields of marine biogeochemistry, microbial biodiversity and ecology, the physiology of marine microorganisms and microbial biotechnology.
